Power steering upgrade
Good morning all, I am going to install power steering on my 1965 C10. I'll retain the stock suspension and ride height, has a regular small block 350. it will be a daily driver. I am looking for a company that sells a complete power steering kit with everything I need for the conversion. Also I see there are 2 different steering boxes, standard ratio 16-1 and a quick ratio 14-1. Anyone with experience on this? Thanks for any help, hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving.

Re: Power steering upgrade
I'm not into kits. If you do a little research on this forum you can find a list of parts to gather up. Everyone uses parts from square body era trucks and adapters from Captain Fab.

Re: Power steering upgrade
I believe many kits are out there ,POL Ecklers, and CPP sell them.
You can piece together what you need from your local parts house for less money. I used all 1972 C10 parts, pump, hose, steering coupler and gear. As mentioned Capt. Fab sells a top notch adapter to mount the gearbox to your frame, and may even be able to supply you a parts list of what you will need . Whatever route you decide to take you will only regret not adding it sooner. Good luck and keep us posted

Re: Power steering upgrade
I upgraded last year with a kit from POL. Works great. I went with quick ratio and I think I should have gone with the standard. The quick ratio is a little twitchy. You will end up with old timey 1 finger steering that doesn’t lend itself to a quick ratio.

Re: Power steering upgrade
Thanks Pitpig, I have been looking at the CPP power steering conversion kit for my 65 C10 and was thinking about the quicker 14-1 ratio. I may have to reconsider now and think about the 16-1 standard ratio. My truck has the original front suspension and stock ride height. Maybe I can get some more input on the two choices from other members.

Re: Power steering upgrade
I went with the quicker box and I like it. My truck also has stock springs (re-pops) and I added a squarebody sway bar with poly bushings. I do a lot of all around driving and I also enjoy some twisty mountain roads and I think it works fine.
