Best aftermarket bumpers

When purchasing rear bumpers who has the best quality on the sport style bumper with mounting kit?

Anyone with NOS Rear Sport Bumper? Its been a never ending NOS spending spree so why stop now.

Re: Best aftermarket bumpers

I bought my rear sport bumper and front bumper from GMC Pauls and used the original mounting brackets. They looked and fit very well. I'd give them a 8 out of ten where a NOS bumper would be a 10 and a quality re-chrome on a original bumper would be a 9 or better. I made my purchase of these bumpers about 2 years ago.

Re: Best aftermarket bumpers

The refurbished bumpers from goodmark are supposed to be the best.

Part numbers - Rear - GMK4143800674A and 67-70 Front GMK4143000672A

I believe having the 'A' on the end of the part number is the key.

Look nice but premiums out of stock it seems. Put on a reminder email list for availability.

I would call GMCPauls and see if these are the ones they stock.

I have them and they sure are nice.

This is what I have on the rear of my truck. It is excellent quality.

Don't confuse repo with re-chrome......

Goodmark re-chrome here: http://www.rechromebumper.com/index.asp

These are the ones to have. Unfortunately, they have been out of stock EVERYWHERE for over a year. Doesn't appear Goodmark is doing these anymore.

It's a shame, because the alternatives are not great. AMD front is OK. AMD rear not so much.

I bought one, supposedly. It was a rear bumper, and it was beautiful. Don't know if it fit, and didn't care, because its part number was stamped on its lower exterior. Could not believe it, Y, Y, Y. I ended up having the original reconditioned.

As for the OP's mounting kit, you don't necessarily go by what the seller recommends. Measure the frame rail bolt pattern for brackets. I'm aware of 5", 5.3", and 7.1" bolt patterns. That's three different inner brackets, and two different outer brackets. If common 7.1" (longer inner brackets) or 5" (shorter inners), then the outer brackets are the same, and the sets are reproduced.

You don't have to worry about 5.3", likely, they're not reproduced.

Sounds like you're building a nice truck. NOS rear? Hmm, don't hold your breath, but you never know. Seems I had a search on ebay for YEARS, nothing. Probably run I don't know, too close to 2K or so, perhaps, if you can find one. If you have a good original, for reconditioning, 1K or so gets it done. Sometimes it's a BIG hassle, ask me how I know. That's just California being California, Fresno to be exact. They tried stealing my front bumper, bastads, and they took forever. There seems to be a nice reputable place in Utah.

Re: Best aftermarket bumpers

I bought mine from brothers on a sale, it was the "show chrome" option, its miles better than the repop chrome bumpers I had stuck on my 68 Camaro. So far its holding up really well.

Having grown up in the 60s and 70s I observed that approximately 0% of these trucks had rear bumpers from the factory. I'm sure there were a few exceptionally rich people who would have special ordered their trucks with "sport" bumpers, but I don't know why because even 0% of the exceptionally rich would have been interested in a bumper they couldn't step on to get into the bed without their foot slipping and racking their nether regions. :-) I never saw a chrome sport bumper on a pickup truck until about 1978 or so when affluenza hit America, and it was a bizarre sight to see indeed. Around that time were the first trucks rolling off the line where the new owner would NOT help you bring home a refrigerator or washer from Sears or Wards nor help you move, because it might scratch the paint in the bed. The new era was both amusing and sad from my view.

In the time of our trucks and the first half of the square body era, they came with no bumper from the factory, and they had an under-body lighted license plate holder. Then at the dealer one end of the license plate holder was bent out of the way and a locally-made rear bumper deeply engraved with the dealer name and city was attached, and the truck was sold. The bumper on my 69 was made at D&D Bumperworks in Seguin, Texas (pronouced suh-geen). It would be interesting to see the numbers, but if I had to guess I would think sport bumpers may have come on 5,000 or less of the millions of trucks sold. NOS locally-made step bumper in silver paint with red-paint engraved dealer name would be a more likely find. My view was from Texas, so your view may vary.

United Pacific is pretty new in the sheet metal world, and I bought a chrome front bumper from them in 2021. It was inexpensive and is looking good on my otherwise rusty old truck even after a few years. If I were inclined to slip and rack my nether regions on the tailgate by using a slick rear bumper, I would probably buy one of theirs.
