Olds/Caddy air filter
I was lookong at these online and wondering if they clear our firewalls. Speedway Motors has a full size and a 7/8 size version. Anyone running one of these?

Re: Olds/Caddy air filter
As long as your engine placement is in the stock location, you should be fine.

I see these at Swap Meets from time to time.
I think they look cool.

Re: Olds/Caddy air filter
Thanks guys, yes my engine is in the stock location, but I do have a 1" carb spacer. They have a spec sheet at the Speedway site and I will check it thoroughly but first hand info is always the best. Presently, I use a modified squarebody housing and it's getting harder to find replacement filters (don't want a K&N). Also, I'm kind of tired of hearing my carb sucking air. Hopefully someone who is currently using one of these Caddy jobs will check in and tell me how they like it

Re: Olds/Caddy air filter
I have one in my '64, but I'm running an Oldsmobile 455. It is super close to my heater core box but fits. I believe mine came with a drop air filter base but had to use an air filter base that kept the bottom of the air filter even with the top of my carb. It clears the hood, too.

Re: Olds/Caddy air filter
That's right, It was Dice Roller who had that. I knew someone had one painted to match and couldn't remeber who. I PM'd him. I haven't seen him around here much anymore. Maybe my query will inspire him to drop in again. Thanks

Re: Olds/Caddy air filter
AcampoDave what's the cost on it? I was debating on this idea for a while. I have a 283, edelbrock carb and intake set up on mine. I wonder if it will clear a HEI dist cap? Maybe depending on the spacer?

Re: Olds/Caddy air filter
I have one and with the engine in the stock rear mount location the filter hit the firewall. I do have a super victor intake and a 1/2" spacer.

Re: Olds/Caddy air filter
Sorry for taking so long to reply. Mine is about 18" wide. Here's a picture of it in my '64. Still need to paint it, though.
