hydrobooster & master cyl from 2009 GM. do i need a proportioning valve?

i am installing a HB and master cyl from a 2009 truck. this setup does not use a proportioning valve on the 2009 vehicle. ive been told "this work is done by the antilock brake manifold". im obviously not running ABS on my 69 c10.

i have disks all the way around. do i need a proportioning valve or not?

Yes you need one for disc disc or an adjustable one.

I have seen answers on both sides of this. As I understand if with disc disc front and rear are evenly matched, no proportioning valve is required. On our custom setups this is probably unlikely but how would you know exact proportioning needs unless you test with emergency braking on good traction to see when the rear wheels lock up first? What about poor traction?

Hence ABS was invented, On my 67 which has 4 wheel disc I have an adjustable proportioning valve but doubt if it it set for all/best situations. I suppose if all wheels lock at the same time, it may be close without abs. This truck also has Hydroboost.

I would want to keep the shutoff valving for front or rear pressure failure that is in a proportioning valve or in a distribution block like in a stock 60-70 (maybe) but this may be in your 2009 setup.

I would say yes, run one..you do need some bias from front to rear
I used one that came with the hydroboost that I bought new from POL
Even the disc disc ones they sell come with one..it has the trip spool valve in it
Make sure your master is for disc disc...I know they went back and forth from drum to disc rears for a few yrs back then..not sure what yrs are what..
I started to just go with a adjustable setup like wilwood sells, but opted to just use what I had
