LT1 in an 85 Suburban Sorry bout the multi room postings
I want to know if it is possible to put a 1994 LT1 out of a Corvette into my 1985 Subruban (auto/ 2WD w/ replacement carb. 350). What would need to be done? It has A/C. I heard something about notching the frame for the compressor. Any help would be appreciated!!!

Most GM vehicles need the frame notched. Im doing the swap in my malibu and I have to have it notched. But if it is off of a corvette then the A/C should be on the drivers top of the motor. For camaros it is on the passenger bottom (hence the frame cutting) As far as Ive seen the easiest way to wire it is by painless wiring but for the 94 I believe it is about 700.00. Also you will need to upgrade your fuel system and get electric fans.
An LT1 has to have about 40 psi of fuel to run, you cant run the stock fan either since the water pump has no place for it. Its a pretty pricey swap, but very cool none the less!

Yeah if you think about it thats prolly about the size of most engine driven fans. I run dual 14s just cause i was getting them dirt cheap for a long time 20 a pair .. But if i had to buy a new one id just get a single 16
Sometimes you can find old Ho camaros and T/A's that have a factory fan that will work out nice with some bracket makeing. |
