CJ Classics Steering Column Install Help

I ordered a CJ Pony Parts Steering column for my '71 C15. I don't understand how the 1"DD end of the column attaches to the universal joint on the intermediate shaft. The old shaft is round and splined, the new one is the DD. Pic below. This is the stuff that grinds my gears. Says its a column for my truck, and it does not bolt in. There is also no provision for a neutral safety/backup switch. Pic of the ends below. How did someone who has had this correct it?

Re: CJ Classics Steering Column Install Help

Send it back ,Your going to have to spend more $ to get a quality column , Check out the guys in here rebuilding OEM columns .

1) OEM
2) Ididit
3) Flaming river

The china columns don't have a very good reputation . Don't buy C10 parts from a Mustang supplier . to use that column your going to have to cut for the neutral safety switch and use a DD universal and cut the lower shaft . it will cost more time and parts

Thanks. I'm trying to swap to a tilt column. Now that the old one is out and completely apart, I'm kinda screwed. Looking around to see how fast I can find a tilt column that will bolt in.

Re: CJ Classics Steering Column Install Help

Thanks guys. This was a learning experience for sure. I'll take some responsibility for not doing more research, but damn. Very misleading by CJ Pony Parts. I'm sending this junk back. I just ordered a Flaming River from Summit. At 3 times the price. 🤢 I can have it here by Tuesday, and this is my driver, so i need to get it back together ASAP.

Re: CJ Classics Steering Column Install Help

I have found the customer service at CJ is almost non-existent. I am not really sure if they have more than a couple employees. I had to wait on the phone for an hour to talk to a live person. They push you to do business over the internet. Many vendors have shaky customer service, IMHO CJ is at the very bottom of the box.
They are 261 Customer Testimonials on there internal page.
All are 5 stars. LOL.
Yelp gives them a review rating of 1.5 stars.
I highly recommend checking with Yelp before any business transaction.
The internet can be a den of thief's or a great place.

You will not regret going with a quality part. You will soon forget the price. A poorly built column will be with you forever.
Be careful out there.
