Looks like the factory door panel with an insert that takes up where the metal strip would be and where cloth could be. (The part that looks like Oklahoma.)

Here's one with the metal strip and velour.

I like the look of it, whatever it is.

I think it was a minor custom mod by a previous owner, I have never seen an aftermarket piece like that.

They are Coverlay, but your right, they look homemade. I never have liked them, they look cheaply made.

I've got coverlay door panels in my C30 truck...nothing cheesy or homemade about them...they are actually quite nice..
1000x better than the deteriorated originals

Are these any good? Got a pair for my 79 from LMC and they cracked after the first winter

My personal opinion, no. They do crack easily. This past summer, I was at a buddies house, and he was in the process of installing these. He took off a perfectly good set of door panels off for these. I was like, “why?” I took one look at them and I just wasn’t impressed with the overall look of them. So anyways, he’s installing the door panels. One of them isn’t lining up at all, and then all of a sudden, crack! After fighting with them, and the one side cracked, he gave up. I convinced him to just restore his originals, because they weren’t bad at all, he was just wanting something NEW.
So I gave him the basics of restoring his originals. It was time consuming, but once they were completed he was very happy with how they turned out. They looked NEW again.
He said later, he wished he hadn’t wasted his money on the coverlay panels. They wouldn’t refund his money because he was the one that cracked the one side during installation.

While I cant speak for others, I've the set in my truck for over 10yrs..there are no cracks, fit was perfect..but we dont get the cold winters yall have up north either, and truck stays under pole barn so it's got shade in summer
My originals were beyond saving..I had no choice but to get them

I’m glad you haven’t had any issues. The cold winters probably make a difference. I would almost wonder, since you have had yours for 10 years, that maybe the quality has gone downhill recently. Use less materials to save money at the expense of quality.
Myself, I did not even have original door panels to restore. And I couldn’t find a decent set of Charcoal to even try and restore. So I bought new ones also, not Coverlay. I tried a couple of sets from LMC, but those cracked also in a short amount of time. I didn’t want to spend the big $$$ it takes to purchase the ones from USA1 Industries, but that’s what I eventually did. I wished I would have just spent the money on these in the first place. I wasted a lot of time and money on LMC. I have had these for 3 years now, and quite happy with the quality and the look. These look original, which is what I was after in the first place.

After thinking about it Tina, I wonder the same thing..it does seem quality always get worse over time ,not better...
Those you have sure are nice..if mie was more showy, I might spring for those, but for my "work truck " the overlays are just fine for me..

You might want to order now then. There’s quite a wait on them. Mine took 4 months, and this was before 2019/2020. They wait is even longer now because of so many issues, mainly supply issues.
