Plan for DBW throttle mount

Afternoon All,

Let me preface this post by reminding you I am in the UK so shipping, duty, tax etc makes buying one 'off the shelf' a no.

Does anybody have a set of plans to make a bracket for the DBW into a 66?

Reason I am asking is that I am waiting for the weather to improve so I can paint the floors on Woody so want to get on with something but don't want to stick the cab back on 'its feet' and measure it all up.

Any help appreciated.

P.

Paul there's a specific forum for LS swaps where you might get more info. Look for General Truck Forums > Engine and Drivetrain > LSX Swaps. I wish the moderators would make a better forum for LS swaps as it's kind of hidden in small print under Engine and Drivetrain.

Re: Plan for DBW throttle mount

I didn't draw up any plans, but it was quite simple to make a mount and modify a truck DBW pedal assy to work with the stock pedal. The mount is part of a VCR tray for an old TV wall mount, and it utilizes the factory holes in the firewall. The pedal arm is just round stock bent to the proper shape and welded to the DBW pedal arm. Provided you have a welder, cutoff wheel, etc., it's a simple afternoon project.

What pedal are you using? Truck pedals don’t fit very well. They have a wonky curve to the arm. A car pedal is straighter and easier to mount with a homemade angle bracket.

If you're asking me, that is a '02 truck DBW assembly with a stock '65 pedal.

Re: Plan for DBW throttle mount

I was actually referring to the OP but good to know what you used Racecougar. I'm more familiar with the Gen IV truck pedals that have a moulded plastic arm that has a twisty angle to them. The pedals with the straight metal arm like yours are much more adaptable.

Re: Plan for DBW throttle mount

Thanks for the replies Gentlemen,

Pedal is from an 06 Silverado, will have a closer look when I am in the shed over the weekend.

Think I will have to wait until I have the cab back in the chassis and find something else to do whilst waiting for the weather to warm up.
