What is this for?

Can someone tell me what this dial is for? It was not connected to anything when I removed the dash.

Thanks

Re: What is this for?

I believe it is part of your optional Speed Minder speedometer. The knob is supposed to move the second needle on the speedometer.(Yours is pointing to 55 MPH)
Here is a link to one of many posts on them.
It's supposed to warn you if you exceed the set mph.

For more information type Speed Minder in the search box above and click 67-72 button.

And welcome aboard.

You're welcome.
Do you have a Suburban?
We would love to see some photos and hear about it no matter what it's condition is.

Re: What is this for?

Well technically I removed the gague cluster not the entire dash. I'm slowing going through the vehicle and I started with a American Autowire update kit. The truck is solid but has some of the typical rust and neglect from sitting over the years prior to my purchase. It does have a neat story though. The truck was purchased new by the original owner for his father who drove the truck until he passed away. The son/orginal purchaser then drove the truck here and there as well as his children until he passed away. His wife let the truck sit for about 7 years and was tired of looking at it reminding her of him and sold it to me as a project for my son and I to work on.

Re: What is this for?

I've read where you're not supposed to set it below 20 mph, don't know why!, but I don't let my grandsons play with it

Should have a cable from the knob to the back speedometer face, they show up in the classifieds every now and then

Nice truck. I don't believe that I have ever seen that color before. I like it. Definitely a nice find.
