welding valve covers

First off can j&b keep the valve cover from leaking? second can this be welded. I know it is hard to see the crack but it is on one side of the bolt hole and the bottom of the pan is bent. I don't want to throw the pan away because the other one is good. just want to fix it right. You guys have any sugestions please let me know. terrym1
p.s. some one else put the J&B on it not me I got it this way.

JB Weld will absolutely fix a crack in an aluminum valve cover.

Whether it re-cracks because it's warped or not is another matter.....

You could also have it Heli-Arced too.

Don't remember what it is called but I got some stuff at the last Pigeon Forge show that allows you to fix aluminum with a torch and a special rod, almost like tig welding but it is not really welding, you just kinda heat it with a propane torch and then feed the rod into the needed repair in a circle, I used it to repair some stuff I had, worked real well.

Go to a welding shop and ask them to fix it for you. Easy 5 min weld would fix it better than JB weld.

Like TXFirefighter said, the JB weld will work fine. You might consider also using a set of the valve cover clamps to spread the load away from the fastener hole.
Good Luck!

I cant see the crack real well, but I dont think it would be that hard to tig weld it.

I think that you are referring to hemrod. I saw it at Hillsville and Charlotte. I am trying to find a retailer for it now. Could you send me some info on it.

If any of you are into welding you have to see one of these. I know that it isn't the same as welding but I watched a guy use it on an aluminum can. It was amazing

Repairing Aluminum

The rod used in above message to fix aluminum is called
Dura-Fix
www.durafix.com

I purchased some but haven't used it yet. Worked pretty neat at a car show. He even showed repairing an Aluminum Valve cover..Good Luck

If you have a wire feed welder or acess to one you can weld it with it just have to have 100% argon and alum welding wire
