Getting ready to pull my donor motor out (L59 5.3/4L60e out of 2003 Yukon XL). With everything I have read about the exhaust manifold bolts on these engines I want to replace them while the engine is out and they are easily accesable. What are the best aftermarket bokts to replace the junk stock ones with? I see so many out there? Are they all the same between all the LS motors? Or are the exhaust bolts in the LS1/LS3 different then the LM7 motors?

What do you guys suggest I go with for my motor (again L59(LM7) 5.3 out of a 2003 Yukon XL)

Just get eh ARP bolts if you can find them. You won't have any issues.

Times 2 on the ARP bolts. All LS exhaust manifold bolts are the same as far as I know. Use some anti-seize on the bolts.

Have an ARP header fastener kit myself for the exhaust on my 6.2. Though it consists of studs and nuts. Cannot remember why I was persuaded to use the studs and nuts over bolts.

I used ARP 134-1202 bolts on my LM7 swap. Got them from Summit Racing. They're good quality but they are a funky socket head (I needed to get a 12 point spline socket set from Harbor Freight), and they're already rusting a little even though they have a sort of black oxide coating on them.

Use studs and anti-seize. I'm running ebay stainless sets on my '49 with manifolds, and my Z28 with headers.

Studs and nuts I assume you mean? Why the suggestion of studs and nuts over bolts?

Studs and nuts, yes. But was suggesting using anti-sieze on the studs when they go in.

I've had better luck with them, the set on my Camaro has been there for 11+ years, tons of heat cycles, no problems, no broken bolt issues.

You can go to ICT Billet and grab a set also. The set i have from them uses a 7/16" wrench with metric threads. They are pretty decent quality and relatively cheap. They don't seem to rust either.
