Has anyone added oem cruise to 99 diesel ?

Adding CC to a vehicle that does not have it
I do not profess to be an expert. I looked through my shop manual and noticed a few things.
first, in a gas system there are 3 components the switch assy on column, the cruise control module located on the fire wall and the cable that goes to the throttle body. The diesel system appears to be even less components. It seems the only add on is the blinker/cc switch assy stalk. On the diesel, the fuel flow is controlled electronically instead of the gas method where the trottle plate is held at a certain point. the questions I can't answer for you is if the connector is already at the column for the switch assy, if the brake switch is same as on cruise control models and if the PCM is already programmed for cruise control. I would think a knowledgeable dealer could help you with that. It could be worth the experiment to just get a switch/stalk for cruise control and try it. Assuming you confirm the 10 way metripack connector is there. I assume all vehicles harness have the connector for it. Wouldn't make sense to make different body harnesses. |
