99 police tahoe fuel tank

Can anyone direct me to a replacement tank for my 99 4 door tahoe ? It's a genuine police edition but I don't think that has any bearing on the style tank.

PPV won’t have anything to do with the tank, but try LMC. They have tanks for trucks n burbs, just never looks for tahoes.

Thanks for that lead but they don't even offer the tank I need . Evidently, the 4 door versions had a weird tank to accommodate the under floor spare tire and no one has them that I've been able to find

Re: 99 police tahoe fuel tank

I hope someone makes one. It seems odd that one for the most common 4dr Tahoe wouldn't be available. 2drs are about rare and I have always seen more Tahoes than Suburbans out on the road. Wish I could help

They have been unavailable for years, and there's no aftermarket ones either. Your best bet is the boneyard if they didn't drill it to drain the fuel or someone parting out a 4 door from 92-99. They should all be the same ~30gallons.

Re: 99 police tahoe fuel tank

I was afraid that might be the case. What are the odds of another used one being in better shape where the fuel pump inserts.

You'd probably have to get one from the south. Nothing that' s been up here is going to be much better. Hopefully someone would be willing to ship one or transport for you

You could have a custom one made. Probably not cheap though.

Put a Blazer tank in the back, where the spare goes.

Re: 99 police tahoe fuel tank

Thanks for all the responses.I found a thread on this forum of someone who converted to a 2 door tahoe steel tank . It is readily available but requires substantial fabrication to remove the spare tire holder ,then add 2 cross members, add on to all the lines and wiring harness, modify the hanging straps, and modify the filler pipe. He was emphatic that it wasn't worth it. I'll find a good used one somewhere.

Re: 99 police tahoe fuel tank

All the good Tahoes and Yukons out there. Someone in the business need to know there is a demand. It's foolish that no one makes these. One of the 67-72 rear tank guys needs to make one if the big guns aren't going to

Re: 99 police tahoe fuel tank

Not sure how extensive the damage is on your tank, but at some point it sounds like it would be worth draining and flushing your tank and getting a new ring welded in for the fuel pump.

Re: 99 police tahoe fuel tank

I'm not sure about the other years, but the tank on my 95 4dr Yukon is plastic so they never rust out like the truck tanks, hence the probable lack of aftermarket support. But the metal ring issue causes situations like this.
