Question Brake Pedal

Putting power brakes on my 72. How far should the pedal be from the floor board with out the engine running ??

Do you mean distance while pressing down on the pedal, or just as it sits in the static position?

Of course, if you press down on the pedal without the engine running it should be quite a distance from the floor. With the pedal still depressed and starting the engine, the pedal should travel towards the floor a bit more due to vacuum assist.

I don't have the measurements either way but my 1970 brake pedal does stay away from the floorboard a good distance at all times, running or not, with and without pressing down on the pedal.


Not sure this helps any, I'm sure there are a lot of pics of the pedals online. Might be a couple pics in my signature links or youtube vids. My truck is 3/4 ton, not sure if it would differ from the 1/2.
