New Door panels

So i think it is time to get some new door panels for my 79 Scottsdale. I know USA1 is the place to go. They have these

https://www.usa1industries.com/1977-...airs-only.html

or Silverado style with the pocket. Any other options out there. Are the ones in the link too cheap?

Re: New Door panels

I just cancelled my door panel order from usa1

I had placed it 02/2021 and just kept getting the run around every month, either they were didn’t have materials or it would be shipped following week

They are 4-6 months out currently.

That’s what they always say I know of at least 3 other people that were waiting over a year…they’ve been telling me it would ship “end of month” since December

Re: New Door panels

You gotta remember the materials and stuff is out of their hands. I’m sure they were being promised materials by a certain time, and then they didn’t get them. So they are exactly in the same predicament that we are in. Being told one thing, and hoping for the best, it only to be disappointed when their supplies don’t show up.

I know you have asked this question a few times. My answer will always be the same, USA1 Industries. They are worth the wait. The custom deluxe are the cheaper version. I would personally go with the Silverado version, it just looks nicer with all the trimmings. But it’s your truck and your money.
I wasted money on LMC door panels, twice. I wished I would have used USA1 the first time around, but I was trying to keep it on a budget. But in the long run, I ended up spending more, not to mention all the work. Changing out door panels 3-4 times. I will say this, I’m good at it now, lol!
I should have just sucked it up and spent the money on the ones I have now, which is the Silverado for the 81-87 from USA1.

Thanks, just didn't know if there was another option other than the Silverado. I agree the deluxe look too cheap.

Re: New Door panels

My concern with the usa1 door panels is that they are dyed in color. The factory door panels were not dyed.

Please do! I placed an order with USA1 on 4/11 then found this thread, I took a screen shot of some of the comments and concerns and forwarded it to their customer service asking if it was going to take longer than the stated "12-16" week lead time (they said "no"). I am getting the 81-87 Silverado door panel and dash pad.....

They have just had a lot of supply issues. I believe they are finally getting some stuff, so they are able to finally start getting their door panel orders out. Trust me, they are just as frustrated at not being able to get their supplies needed to do what they need to do.

I don't have a problem with waiting for good product, but good customer service would state what the "real" and current lead time is on getting it to you (9 month wait time vs. 12-16 weeks). Plus, charging my CC the full amount upfront for 12-16 understood, any longer than that not good.

They are worth the wait. I bought mine back in 2018/2019 before all this nonsense that happened in the world. My wait time was 4 months then. So I fully understand why there would be longer wait times now, if they can’t get their supplies. And their suppliers are giving them times, and then that’s not met. They are just as frustrated as we are. I work with them a lot, and it has affected getting my supplies and I know they are doing their best.
Hang in there!

Is the color dyed on your panels? I've been concerned that the color might easily scratch.

I have no idea how would I be able to tell?
They look great I just don’t want to install them until I get some killmat or something similar on the doors first

Look at the back. If it’s dyed, then the back of the panel will be black. If it is the same color as the front, then it maybe molded that color. I can’t see them dyeing the backside of the panel, that would be a waste of dye. If it is the same color, then you can scratch it back there, it won’t hurt anything on the backside of the panel. If you don’t see black, the the panel is molded that color. I know that is what their plan was with them producing their own panels, was to have them molded in the correct color.
Now mine, the ones I got from them 4 years ago, those were black and dyed Charcoal. I’m pretty easy on my door panels, so they are still like the day I got them. I did have 1 minor scratch when I was installing them, but I have the same dye. I just sprayed a little in the can cap and used a touch tip and dabbed the scratch. Covered it right up, and it’s been fine since.
