WTB - Round dipstick for 216/235/261 engine

Seems that my jigsaw puzzle of a truck has a non-standard dipstick that needs to be replaced. Does anyone have the standard Chevy dipstick for this era of engine? Send me a PM with your thoughts on price.

Many thanks,

Bob

Since I've not actually seen the appropriate dip stick for the truck I can only go by what I've read or been told. I can't tell from the picture, but I've been told that the dipstick portion is a round non-flexible rod. If that fits the bill, then the next question is how much do you want for it. You can PM me and we can share details.

Thank you.

Bob

Looking some more I found a 216 out of a 52 pickup that had a short dip stick no tube out of the block and the one pictured had a tube sticking out of the block so it takes the long dip stick . what engine do you have and dose the dip stick slide in to a tube or right in to the block ?

I have a 1959 261 cu/in Chevy engine. There is a tube inserted in the block for the dipstick. I’m told that the 216, 235, and 261 shared the same dipstick design.

I’ve measured using another dip stick. From the top of the block to the bottom of the oil sump is 10 inches. From the top of the block to the top of the dipstick tube is 7 1/8 inches.

The long dip stick I have is 17 1/4 from the bottom to the stop I think that is to long

That actually sounds perfect since I would need a total length of 17 1/8 inches give or take a fraction. (ten inches from the block opening to the bottom of the oil sump plus a dipstick tube that is about 7 1/8 inches for a total of 17 1/8.

Are you interesting in selling it?
