Garage vent systems for exhaust?

Curious if anyone has a garage vent system to handle engine exhaust while running with closed doors. It's what you have to think about living near the 45th parallel

Shops in cold weather country usually have flexible steel tubes to connect to exhaust pipes and run it outside. Of course, they are "one-size-fits-all" so there would be leakage. I say usually, because I worked at a shop in Idaho that didn't. We rebuilt the engine for a 4020 John Deere, got it all dialed in and called the owner to come get it. 2:30 AM, but there was a harvest to get in, and the farmer needed that tractor soonest. Even then, it was cold, so we had all the doors closed. You know how bad diesel exhaust can get. I'm surprised we both didn't die of it.

My dad used d vacuum cleaner hose duct taped together. Then ran it to the one window in the garage. That way he could warm the car up in winter then smash thru the snow drifts once car was warmed up. The hoses fit pretty well. But it was allmild, small tailpipe vehicles.

Thanks for the input. Getting ready to break ground on a detached garage and am casting about for any last minute ideas that might be useful down the road.

I work for an HVAC contractor, we've installed some in commercial buildings. I don't think they would be practical for a home garage.

Maybe a dust collection system like the wood shops use would work. Harbor freight has a couple different units. They should move enough air so heat isn't an issue.

No suggestion on a vent system but include a couple of CO detectors. Vents and exhaust systems can leak.

A hole in the garage door and a hose, that's how the first gas station I worked at was set up. Can also put an exhaust fan in one of the walls to keep the air moving if needed not just when running vehicles.

Air wants to go to where it is coming from or going to. Simple, if venting to the outside of a closed space you need an intake from the outside. If you want to keep space closed while not in use. Maybe a dryer vent to attach exhaust to and a foundation vent with a flap on it.

Maybe add one of these too the vent hoses.
