PS hose connections
Hello:
I have converted to power steering and Hydroboost as part of my 67 LS swap but I am having hard time to bleed the PS pump. It keep humming and the fluid foams (cavitating, I guess). It is a new (rebuild) ACDelco pump. I am wondering if I have connected the return lines incorrect, if that matters. The pump has two return lines and one high pressure line, one return line sits higher than the other. Can anybody tell me the return line from steering box connects to the lower return line or the upper?

From the steering gear should go to the lower return.
From the hydroboost to the upper. Having them swapped will cause bubble/foam... |

you have to jack up the wheels, and slowly turn the steering side to side without the engine running. only way to bleed all the air out. if you do it running it will just cavitate and continue to aerate the fluid. also doesn't matter where the returns are.

I just went through this on an S10. As others have stated.......jack it up. While NOT running turn the wheels lock to lock about 5 times. Start it up at idle and do it adain........Repeat about 5 times. Let it sit for a day and try again. Repeat if necessary. Mine seems to have gotten all the air out on the second day try.
