Sticky steering wheel
When humidity is up (always in Kansas) my 68 steering wheel gets sticky and leaves my hands black. Anybody have luck with cleaning or possible clear coating? Is there a paint for this issue? Thanks in advance.

Re: Sticky steering wheel
'67/'68 Steering Wheels were made of a composition of clay/ glue and ground walnut shells.
[Or something like that...] The same stuff the first generation skateboard wheels were made of. '69 and later wheels are made of Cycolac, a plastic. I used to know some surfers who rubbed surfboard wax onto the wheel, but on hot days, then the wax gets sticky too. You could wrap the wheel [like bicycle handlebars] or wear gloves.

Re: Sticky steering wheel
Living in the flatlands of Kansas humidity is nearly always a problem and I have always wrapped my vehicle steering wheels with a lace on wrap. Works well and when they do get a bit grimy and dirty I wipe them down using MeGuiar's vinyl treatment. Does a good job cleaning and removing the crud, just the nature of older steering wheels as the material used breaks down.
