1970 Brake Booster
I have a stock 1/2 ton 1970 CST10 2WD with Power Brakes (factory drums in front and rear). Does anyone know if a 1971/1972 brake booster will work on a 1970? LMC Truck only offers 1971/1972 brake booster, so I called LMC and they told me they are "likely" compatible. I was hoping someone may know for the answer of this question for sure. I believe front disc brakes became standard in 1971 but not sure is that affected the brake booster or not. Thank you in advance for your help.
Thank you |

Re: 1970 Brake Booster
You should be able to get a power brake booster for a '70 at pretty much any auto parts store. Probably about 125 bucks or so.

Re: 1970 Brake Booster
As of last year Advance Auto still carried them, Lifetime Warranty. Keep the stock part for core.
If you change the booster to another model year chances are the proportioning valve will be different and the brakes may not function properly. |

The LMC booster fits my 68, not sure if the bolt pattern is the same but I am willing to bet it is.

Re: 1970 Brake Booster
The booster itself is the same through all years. What your concern is, that the Master Cylinder is the correct one for your Drum/Drum brake system.

Re: 1970 Brake Booster
No they are not the same for all 67-72's. They did come with at least 3 different ones, stock is stock there are lots of generic cross over parts that may work.
Can anyone tell me more about the Lester Interchange? Today's information is not actually what happened yesterday nor was factory. |
