A good day at the swap meet..

Walking through the swap meet at an antiques festival. About 30 parts swappers vs 700 antique sellers. Look over and spot a 84 GMC grill, a couple broken/missing bars, but overall not bad, including turn lamps. Also a black, non-sticky steering wheel with a GMC horn button. $30 dollars later I was happy.

Found an 87? GMC grill but the man wanted more than $30 for it, cracks and all. I passed although I should have paid $30 for it.

As we were about to leave, I walked over to 3 swappers that were on a little side drive. $20 later I had a spotless Mercury Marine cast aluminum valve cover for my 292!

Best swap meet since I sold all my big blocks and 4 speeds back in the early 90's.

Oh, and a pair of long bed sides with rust holes around the wheel arch, $600. I passed. There's a much nicer bed for sale here, not that far from me., Actually my bed is nicer than that.

You found some good stuff. Wish that I had made it out to our local one that was a couple weeks ago. If you run across another GMC horn button from the '80s that you don't need, point me at it, would ya? For no apparent reason, my 82 GMC came with Chevy hubcaps and a Chevy horn button. Some sort of identity crisis I guess, haha, because all of the badges for GMC are still intact.

Good finds. I like those Mercruiser valve covers. I was happy to have found one on Craigslist a few years back, and the crew cab I bought last summer had one on it was well.

Re: A good day at the swap meet..

The Midland Antiques Festival had a car show and swap meet.

I live in the Armada area and have yet to find anything for my truck at the Armada Flea Market. Although I did pick up a couple wrenches for keeping handy in the barn.

We go to the Armada flea market once a month. I usually don’t find much but enjoy the hunt.
