Max tire size for 6 or 7" stock rim

Any ideas on what's the max tire size that can safely be put on 6 and 7 inch rims, without causing excessive tread wear? This is for a stock height 1/2 ton 4x4. I'm thinking the max for a 7 inch is maybe a 30x9.5. Max for a 6 inch may be 235/75/15. Anybody know for sure?

Thanks for any info.

I was told by 4x4 offroad that 2.5" wider tire on rim is max oversize. So 8" rim = 10.5 tire 7" rim 9.5" tire.

You might get away with bigger but in a 4x4 application it's
very dangerous.
