E-brake/OD

I have a 1960 C60 with 327 and np540 . i was considering a gear vendor but i would have to remove trans mounted ebrake. Same with using an OD auto. Is there a way to upgrade the rear brakes to ebrake capability? anyone ever upgraded to a transmission with OD? I cna live with driving 55 but it would be nice to drive 65 without high rpms

There is an e-brake unit being sold called e-stopp. You could run new e-brake cables to it. Mount is on the chassis under the cab. - https://www.summitracing.com/parts/e...iABEgKOSfD_BwE
You could run floor mounted parking brake handle much easier and cheaper like this guy - https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...59&postcount=8
I wonder if a NV4500 5 speed would mount to your small block bell housing?
Or a Gear Vendors Overdrive might be a option?

The plan is to use a gearvendor direct to the NP540 but in order to do that, the mounted e-brake has to some off the transmission to expose the main transmission shaft. The GV unit has a housing that captures the shaft and then bolts to the trans case. The e-stopp above wont work since id be removing the existing inline (drum on the drive shaft behind the trans) e-brake. I would need to tap into the drum and be able to manually pull the existing brake pads. Is that what the guy in the second link did? is that a kit or home made?

With e-stop you'd need to add park hardware and cables to your existing rear end. Not sure if that's possible?

that's the question....don't know if the drums can be retrofitted with e-brake

I think what I need is a driveline brake/caliper kit that mounts on the differential. I see a few kits out there. Might have to make my own bracket for the caliper. Looks doable.

You could probably change backing plates if there is no hole for the cables. Also if you use Lokar cables, you can run them wherever is easier and still use your stock lever in the cab, have done the Lokar thing many times.
