1961 Frame Options?
I am looking at a solid 61 cab and doors. What options exist for a chassis for it? From everything I read the 60-62 chassis leaves a lot to be desired. I'd like to end up with a chassis I can drop a 350 into and have decent driveavabilty and lower it. I don't want to get into air ride or anything radical.

Re: 1961 Frame Options?
The front cab mounts are farther apart and the bed mounts are wider side to side on the '62 frame. So that's not something you can't overcome using say a 64-66 frame.

Re: 1961 Frame Options?
Yes, the 60-62 X-Frame is what it would have been on. But you can put it on a 63-66 frame with just drilling two new holes in the floor of the cab.
With a little more work you can put it on a 67-72 frame. Do you plan on going with a custom suspension or stock. If stock and you want power disc brakes and power steering, 72 would be a good candidate. . See https://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vbo...d.php?t=785810

Re: 1961 Frame Options?
I would just want it to be able to be lowered and have a 350/350 installed without a bunch of hassle. I would want to install a newer rear with a highway driveable gearing.

Re: 1961 Frame Options?
60-62 parts are available, just not a good selection/support. If you can stay above 63 you'll be better off for parts. 66 is the latest technology for the 60-66 generation. How plentiful are the 60-66's in your area.

Re: 1961 Frame Options?
Anyway, 67-72 is an option if you are having difficulty finding a 60-66.
If you can weld, you have more options.
