1973 K10 Wilderness Camper Build... time to update
Bought this 1973 K10 in 2007 I think.
Its a CA truck, 350/350/NP205. AC, PB, PS, Dana44 up front, 12 bolt rear. Was not running, been sitting a while, I think. Came on 33s, and 4" lift Paid $500 for it if I remember correctly... This is what I got... Last edited by Keyblazer; 07-13-2022 at 03:48 PM. |

Re: 1973 K10 Build... time to update
Over 2007-8 we dealt with some rust by replacing panels..
Hood was first so we could use original fenders for flush and gap. |

There was rust in the fenders and some in the fender liners so we replaced those too..

As this truck was for my son, we just gave it a "Rustoleum Special" Roller Paintjob...
Came out good! |

Over the next 5 years the son moved onto Jeeps, and left me with it.
It got some upgrades, like some Dick Cepek DC1s, and Wrangler 35s, and then I got a free Callen Camper top... Ran it like this for a number of years, and enjoyed it. |

Re: 1973 K10 Wilderness Camper Build... time to update
Then I had starting and running issues in 2013-14 ish.
Had the quadrajet rebuilt... made it worse... Replaced it with an Edelbrock... not much better. Parked it while I was working on other stuff... Now i am back on it, and focused. Core of the truck is good... The plan is to cure all of its issues, and get it back to my original desire... A capable, reliable and fun Overlander/Widerness Camper. The 4 bolt 350 Motor was rebuilt 20 years ago, and is still good with maybe 15-20k miles on it. Compression is good @160psi +- 10 across all 8. EFI seemed to be the way forward. I originally thought Id do a TBI conversion, had a complete GM TBI setup on hand... but realized they all need rebuilding and the cost got silly... So I bought a Holley Sniper EFI kit. Pulled off the Edelbrock Performer Intake, media blasted, and painted it as it refused to look nice bare. Added a spacer as I read they smooth out the running and add torque. |

Transmission was rebuilt too, with a shift kit, and I resealed it and added an aluminum pan, and adding a bigger cooler.
NP205 was leaking, so it was removed, cleaned, checked, resealed, and painted... and I did a Twin Stick Conversion while it was out... Back in, with X-Member powdercoated and Polyurethane mounts. |

I like the truck and it has come a long way since you got it.

By the way, this is posted in the blazer / burban area. You may want to ask a moderator to move it in with the pickup build threads since there is more traffic there.

I don't think anybody minds if it's here, I certainly don't. It's just that more people will see it if it's where the other pickups are. This section doesn't get quite the same amount of traffic.
