Side view mirror ideas
In the works is a 59 with one piece door glasses. The stock mirrors were of course designed with the vent window in place. I am looking for suggestions for a non stock replacement. I have done a lot of web searching but just don't see anything I like.

Re: Side view mirror ideas
My 58 TRUK had west coast mirrors and holes for 2 previous versions, when I bought it 30 years. I couldn't wait to put stock repops on it. Look at my build thread, lots of pics
TRUK is far from stock, the OEM mirrors look best imo. I did remake the drivers side in stainless 2" out, to accommodate the 8" spare tire hanging on the fender.

Re: Side view mirror ideas
I got a deal on a set of 67/69 doors for my 71 that are the same original orange as the 71. Right now I plan to run stainless 67/69 arms with presentable shiny mirrior heads.
That setup might look presentable and not far from original on a 59. Along with being beat up from my cousins kids running it though the brush the doors have suffered from my uncle drilling holes to mount about three different sets of west coast style mirrors. I was going to change the color on it but now think I will just go back with the original oange with a white top and call it good.

Re: Side view mirror ideas
I’m with Patrat on this, I’ve searched and searched for a good alternative mirror and have not found anything better than stock. The stock mirror is functional and well placed but I’m still not sure if I will go that route. Virtually everything on my build is modified, so using a stock mirror might stand out in a bad way. I welded the 3 holes closed prior to paint and could easily reopen them if nothing better comes around.

Re: Side view mirror ideas
I would buy these mirrors if available but I believe the were one-off. I love the way they follow the hood to fender line and tuck in close to the door

Those are nice but I think you are right about them being one-off. Too bad.....

Re: Side view mirror ideas
I like these original style peep mirrors. They also bolt on to the top of the door frame - not clamp on. https://www.classicindustries.com/pr...ts/cx2027.html

Re: Side view mirror ideas
I plan to pull a trailer with my 57 so those dinky stock mirrors will be replaced with something newer and larger. possibly something from a newer chevy with a home made mount to fit the door contours.
not there yet, but know the small mirrors are too small for my needs. |

Re: Side view mirror ideas
peep mirrors... mostly for show, not really useable as a mirror
the link shows only the drivers side, probably for fender mounted spare i've never actually seen a stock peep mirror on our trucks though i have used the stock mirrors for hundreds of thousands of miles without a problem

Re: Side view mirror ideas
Peeps are not only worthless they can be dangerous and costly if you have an accident. Maybe new electronic collision avoidance devices like radar, alarms and cameras will be the way to go.

Re: Side view mirror ideas
I found these at Speedway for my 51.
I like the look, but unfortunately I could not adjust the passenger side enough, so I added the peel'n stick convex.
