Tire Advice for 78 Big 10 with 15 Rally Wheels
The time has come. I need new tires as the current ones, which are probably 30 years old, are worn.
I currently have the stock 235/75 R15s on for all four tires. I am wondering if I should go a smidge taller on the back to jack the back end up a little. I dont want to mod anything or swap rims. Any good options out there? I am going to go with white lettering. |

Re: Tire Advice for 78 Big 10 with 15 Rally Wheels
I can't tell from the pics -- is that 2wd or 4wd? If 4wd, don't mismatch the front and rear tires. Even for a 2wd, I don't like the look of mismatched tire sizes.
The rear is easy to lift. Buy a set of longer u-bolts, and install a two-inch block between the axle and the spring. https://www.offroaddesign.com/suspen...ft-blocks.html

My burb has 255/70 all the way around on factory 8 wheels. They fill out nicely.

Another issue with mismatched sizes is what size do you pick for the spare? If you have a road size tire issue, you could wind up with two different sizes on the rear. Not good, especially if you have some kind of limited slip differential.

Utilize a spare that's the same size as the rear tires.
