Steering wheel rubber ring
Anyone have a good way of replacing these without taking steering column off. Mine ripped is held in place with a safety pin. I know not a major thing but still catches my eye on occasion

Re: Steering wheel rubber ring
If you are talking about the rubber ring down near the dash board, I have bad news for you. Not only do you have to take the column out, but you have the tear it all the way down to taking the under hood shifter arm out. (on an automatic)
Ask me how I know??? I put mine back together nearly to the ignition cylinder before I discovered the rubber ring on my bench. I tried to stretch it over the shifter arm but near tore it before I got close. I wound up disassembling the whole thing to put it back on. (you can still faintly hear the vulgar obscenities that linger in my garage if you're real quiet.)

Re: Steering wheel rubber ring
When I purchased my 74 C10 from my neighbor years ago, it was absent the rubber dust seal. I was able to get one from a 75 in a wrecking yard, it actually was a simple install! I removed the steering wheel, turn signal arm, the auto shifter is held with a small, grooved pin that can be knocked out, and if you have a tilt wheel the adjusting arm screws out from the column. If your seal is pliable and in good condition it will slide over the column and ignition with very little effort. It was more difficult locating one and removing from a salvaged truck that was in good condition w/o being dried out or cracked. They do not reproduce these rings, so make sure you inspect the ring before you buy. FYI; any year can be used from 1973-87 trucks and 73-91 Blazer/Suburban.

Re: Steering wheel rubber ring
I think id try super gluing the ring back together and removing the clip. You may not be able to see it unless you look right at it. Otherwise you have a good bit of work ahead.

Re: Steering wheel rubber ring
You will have to remove the column but you can cheat and bend the lower arm that attaches to the linkage and stretch it over. Not ideal but does work and helps avoid a total tear down of the column.
