Window glass

I found a guy who has a few pieces of window glass w/tracks, and some have metal frames around them. They are the same size as 64-66 glass. What years could these be from with the frames?

Re: Window glass

Some 64-66 trucks were optioned with the metal framed glass. A lot of those were medium or heavy duty trucks. The glass is two laminated panes, and they are thicker than the non-framed, single pane safety glass.

That extra thickness is a problem with the aftermarket window weatherstripping made for the non-framed glass being too tight for the 64-66 framed glass. The framed glass was more common in the early 60-63 trucks, but I don't know if the aftermarket weatherstripping that fits the 60-63 framed glass would also fit in the 64-66 doors

Re: Window glass

I have a 1961 truck I am working on, I plan to replace both door glass, but keep the factory vent window glass.

Mine has the steel outer on both doors.

I am not going to use it because it is too heavy. Trying to shave weight wherever I can.
