Need links concerning 1972 C30's...

I'm hopefully gonna have one come monday. It's got a rebuilt 350/ TH350 combo, long bed, straight body, recently boild fuel tank, etc. all for $1700 OBO. While it's only a 2x4 right now I'd like to convert it to a 4x4 later, hense another post of mine on here, but in the mean time I'd like to find out as much as I can about these beautiful beasts.

On a side note, anyone know how well these things handle 4L80E's? I'd REALLY like to throw one of those in, I'm not look'n forward to the mileage!

You might try considering a Gear Vendor over drive instead of the 4l80e. I went through the same pondering and came to the result of the 4l80e trans cost, plus the stand alone computor to run the trans, It was cheaper to buy the Gear Vendor unit, that way I could still rebuild the units a lot cheaper myself. Another plus is the ability to split shift.

You can get a kit out of jegs i belive it was for like 200 bucks to run either a 4L60E or 4L80E

is the truck fleetside or stepside?
if its fleet, you have a 1 ton Longhorn, cool score
if its stepside, you have a 1 ton w/ 9foot step bed, even cooler (and rarer)

oh, and either way, be sure to check out the website in Longhorn Man's (board member) sig, he has lots of info on trucks like that.
