One Tough Truck

Saw these pictures in the news from the Mill Fire around Weed, California this week.

My sister-in-law's house in Paradise, California was moderately damaged in the Camp Fire in 2018 while most of her surrounding neighborhood was destroyed/leveled. I've been out there a couple times after the fire to help with clean-up and repairs.

The newer vehicles in her neighborhood that were caught in the fire were largely just warped, melted puddles. But this old truck still looks pretty good.

Dang, that's a bummer, but there's a guy that took a 58 or 59 Apache that was burnt in one of the California fires and left it looking burnt but got it drivable again

Being out of Sacramento, our local news always goes the distance for the big fires...you know " live on the scene" and I regularly notice a lot of vintage iron gets torched. You can tell some aren't likely even registered.....task force era heavy trucks an old International Loadstar. But then too lot of squarebodies that look like they ran. Sometimes it makes me feel a little "verklempt" as Linda used to say on " Coffee Talk" ..., now there's a dated reference... Google it kids!

Watching NBC News last night I saw this truck too... I audibly gasped and my wife rushed in to see what horrified me only to say "I should have known it was a vehicle issue!" The untold disruption and devastation - to say nothing of the loss of life - of these fires is truly heart breaking... When I saw this truck all I could think was how hard it would be for me to loose something like this to a fire especially if I would have spent decades restoring the vehicle as I have mine.
