Little feet kicking under the dash…
I have three little ones who like to go for rides and I often find myself saying please stop kicking under the dash, please stop kicking under the dash, please stop kicking under the dash.
One day they’ll likely kick a wire that will lead to chaos. I’m thinking about fabbing up some sort of under dash cover so that if they kick their little legs, they’ll hit some sort of cover. Or perhaps something already exists? After a bunch of board and Google searching I haven’t been able to find anything. Perhaps you have created something like this? Or aware of a solution? Thx |

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
A small amount of corporal punishment will stop it real quick along with other behaviors requiring more than one command. Works on dogs to. Or simply place them in the bed of the truck. This also works for dogs and they like it. Most members of this forum survived this treatment with positive results.

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
That type of behavior is indicative of boredom, they're not really enjoying the ride.. The application of some behavior management "exercises" is indicated.. Here's something to remember.. Ill-behaved toddlers grow up to be ill-behaved teenagers, who grow up to be ill-behaved adults.

Leg irons!
J/K, you must be short or something. Those children shouldn't be able to kick the dash or under it. Or, you're a giant, and your kids are, too. Could go either way.

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
Ha, they’re little kids, so short legs so as they dangle it’s easy to get em up under the dash. It’s a long shot they’ll do any damage, but it’s got me thinking.
They’re excellent co-pilots, so as long as they’re willing to go for drives with me, they’re coming. |

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
Three kids in the front seat? Federal law requires seriously huge seats for children. A family friend had to buy a F**d Expedition to carry their spawn because of the car seat size. How are you transporting those children?

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
When in my C10, at the most 2 at a time and they’re in seat belts. Thankfully they’re just past the point of car seats or boosters.

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
You’ll miss those little kicking legs one day… that’s what I try to live by. I’ve got 3 as well, 7,5,and 1. I don’t sweat it in my truck much but then again mine is very much a “driver”. I am more picky in the Camaro though.

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
I bent up some sheet metal a few months ago to clean up dangling wires and ducts under the middle of the dash. I'll try to take a photo or two this week.

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
Oh, gotta luv all the "the beatings will continue until morale improves" type of advice. However, I was considering building the same thing for my truck. I don't need it for crotch goblin protection, but really just wanted to add a little more soundproofing, as well as cover up some of the wiring/duct work under there. I'll probably make it out of fiberboard, and cover in carpet or vinyl.

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
If you shackled their ankles that would prevent it. Be sure to explain in a kind and loving way the reason you are doing that. We wouldn't want you being accused of parental abuse :I don't remember my kids kicking under the dash, but them and about anyone else I ride seem to get their feet on my glovebox door. Kids put their feet up and I've had women do that. They'll place both feet flat on there! Also, guys will cross their leg over and their foot rubs the glovebox

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
This reminds me of when I bought my MSE Trans Am. I picked it up in Cali and drove it home to Arkansas with my wife and (then) 5yo son. Several times on the way home my wife had to tell him NOT to kick the back of the seat. Well, it's a Trans Am, there's not much room back there to begin with. Anyway, no big deal. The next weekend after we were back home I dug in to the car to do a full detailing. That's when I noticed the nice crayon pictures drawn on the back of my RECAROS!!! My son is 24 now and it makes me smile just thinking about that!

Re: Little feet kicking under the dash…
So this is what I did. Just a piece of sheet metal with some bends in it. Took advantage of some holes a previous owner probably made and used rivnuts on the plate. Certainly helped clean up some wires and ducts from the vintage air system.
