1972 Texas Blueglass

I have a 1972 GMC Heavy - Half Ton with the 8 foot box. This truck came from Carleton Texas and has the Blueglass option in the cab. I have been told there was less than 300 hundred built with this option. The glass part No. is 1a1120 and I wonder if anybody could verify this for sure. I have been trying since 1971 and have not had any success.. It originally was a 6 auto but now is about 410 HP with 292 heads and a lot more. I have restored this truck to its origanal White and put Billet wheels on it. I love my Truck. Thank You

I've never hear of the Bluegrass (Edit Blueglass!) option on either Chevy or GMC. I'll look in my book to see if there's any mentiion of it.

Sounds like a cool truck you have. Any pictures???

Welcome Aboard.

If it is listed on the gove box option sheet.
Take a pic and post it here.
If it was ever available I am sure someone on this board has seen it.
Some options were dealer installed and not on the option sheet.
Boardmembers have found build sheets in the seat springs or behind the gas tank in some of their trucks.
Where did the part number/option code you have come from?

The only town that I see in Texas with a name close to that is pretty small the curent population is 50.
Is this where the owner was from or was there a chevrolet dealer there?
Carlton Texas

Smile Blueglass

Afriend of mine was visiting your area in 1991 and purchased the truck. He was told it spent it 1st 20 years working for the city works dept of Carlton Texas. The glass option no's are on the inside of the glove box door. I am new to Computors so I will have a friend come by and show me how to post pictures. I sent pictures to the ATHS and spoke a number of times with some of there staff, they were surprised as well. It is a very beautiful blue in the right light. They said it might have been used as a heat repelling factor as it does not have air. It took me 5 years doing a complete body off frame restoration and I painted it the original White again. I have placed in the top 10 for several years now at the Canadian Truck Nationals and also won a number of other prizes with-it. I will post pictures as soon as possible as I do have a number of them. Thank You for replying. Barrie Dale

Yes we are and get to-gether quite often for brown Coffee's and other fun times. There is 4 of us that run to-gether with these trucks,White, red, green and Yellow. makes a real nice display. The green one is a 1970 Chev-4 wheel-drive Hi-rider and is still the original owner. The yellow one is a young man who joined our parade last summer with his shortbox. We will post pictures in the next few days.

You need to rename the zip file to .txt Tripod won't let you link files like this for download, but if you rename it to a text file it will work.

Hi, Blueglass. I have seen your truck in person and it is very nice! I parked beside you once at the car show in Bothwell a few years back and also have seen you and your truck at some of the cruise nights in London. Small word huh? The original blueglass in your truck looks really neat and sets it apart from the rest.
