1969 3/4 4x4 front end disc brake conversion

I have a 1969 3/4 ton Longhorn pickup that I am converting to a 4x4. I have a 1969 3/4 suburban that will be the donor. How do I convert the front end from drum brakes to disc brakes.

hello and welcome to the board!

to convert the '69 front end to disc brakes, the easiest way is to get a complete dana 44 or 10 bolt front axle from a '71-up 4x4 with the same lug pattern. in '73 the axle tubes got larger, so you will need different u bolts. there are also some brake problems you will run into with this swap, but maybe someone else can help you out.

I'm in process of doing this. I don't have the complete story, but what I have so far is this. 2 wd and 4X4 frames are different. It is better to get the later axles for open knuckle and disc brakes. Use a power brake booster and master cylinder from a 71 3/4 ton. 2 wd and 4wd boosters are the same. Master cylinders are the same for 71 and later. Need a proportioning valve from the later truck. All of this is for 3/4 ton. If I'm wrong, I hope people will correct me.

Just make sure you get brake lines for the year of the axle you install.

1986 K30, 350/400/205 dana 60 and 14 bolt. I kept the drivetrain. Body/bad and chassis are gone.
1981 K30, 350/465/205 dana 60 and dually 14 bolt. Has a G80, and a flat bed. Going to replace the flat bed.

1985 K20, 350/400/208 10 bolt and SF 14 bolt. I wonder where I can find some 1 tons. Hmmmmm
