Question First post. 68 C10

Guys, i have a 68 C10 long bed with a 250, no P/S, no P/B. 3 on tree. Has nice saw blade like wheels. 15x8 in front and 15x10 in back. Wood floor for Bed. Very Straight! ( well for the most part ). Has orginal under bed Spare rack. Traded title for title w/ the past owner for an 89 Caviler - worth about 500. RUNS GREAT!!
I Got it on 10-2-03 and i've adjusted the valves - very easy, put a new oil pan gasket, timeing cover gasket, water pump gasket, and valve cover gasket, and new 235/75R15 GoodYear Wranglers on it (good deal at Walmart 4 for 200 minus discount (i work there). The guy is pretty much giving me anything he has to help fix this truck. Like the passenger side front inner fender, a rear bumper, The Front "Letters" if he can find them, (this guy is an awesome guy).
I have a Motorcycle that i can't title in MO that he is trading me a 67 250 for straight. (HELP WITH MODIFICATIONS TO THIS 250). I plan on makin this engine comparable to a stock v8 but i like the I6 so i'm stickin w/ em.
If anyone has any advice and tips or what ever else you have to offer, FYI's, etc. Let me hear them!!
I'm 20 and this is my first resto project.
This C10 is my everyday truck and my 2nd love (I got it after my wife ).

Welcome to the board from MN!

I can't help you on the parts you need, but you're in the right place - these guys know a LOT and someone always seems to have the part you need. Also there are a couple of vendors here - great guys!

Any pics?

Paul

And welcome from the international section from across the water in the UK. There are specs on the bed wood posted on one of the vendors boards so that if you are handy with wood you can make your own http://www.gmcpauls.com/47-72%20BedWood%20Info.htm. There are also loads of great vendors that are board members on here that can supply you with parts. I have dealt with two personaly, Wes from www.ClassicHeartbeat.com and www.gmcpauls.com, they were both great and very helpful.

Sounds like a good deal to me too. I really like how well my 6 runs.
I had to add an HEI distributor to get there though, the old distributor
was worn out. Wouldn't idle below 1500 rpms. Just got the book "Chevrolet
Inline Six-Cylinder Power Manual" by Leo Santucci from Amazon.com. It's ok
to dream, maybe I'll get a second engine to build while I drive the one I
have? They do some amazing things with these engines.

Hood hinges and a new wood bed are still on my list too. I'm holding out
for new GM hinge$ and new wood bed after the body work is done and it has
a new paint job. I don't see any hinges in the salvage yards that
are any better than what I've got.

Also check out inliners.org if you haven't already.

Angry Here's the pictures you all wanted (too late)

Folks, My baby got hit before I could get "good" pics up for ya. Take a look at the damage the fool left (his fault) before he ran away. Don't worry I have lots of info! Go to http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...threadid=85401

(I accidently posted in parts) so here it is in the right spot.

No, No parts yet waiting on insurance.

He got ya, all right. It's nothing that can't be repaired, though. I say find that S.O.B. and make his life a living hell. As they say, "folks don't take too kindly to fellers that hit-and-run 'round here!"

myI hate hit and runs. That totally sucks and am sorry. Accidents are really bad when they are in a truck as classic as ours. I would rather have new car hit. That can be replaced in a heartbeat.
