Might not be the most professional way to do a repair, but I'd say it went very well if it lasted and you couldn't tell.

That's the way it was done before Stud guns the holes helped hold all that bondo on . drill holes along the damaged area and use a slide hammer with a screw in tip and pull away

Re: 72 -C10 Suprise

We would do it that way back in the day . Most guys would just fill but we would weld up the holes . Body filler oozing through the holes will absorb moisture and cause rust failure.

Re: 72 -C10 Suprise

The screw-in slide hammer created "outies" you couldn't flatten since the reason you were using it was no room or access for a dolly. So you couldn't pull the dent as far out, took more bondo.

I have a '68 door I thought was original paint. Now I think it had a car carrier accident when new. I stripped it bare and the area all around the standard mirror mount was filler. The paint was from '68 but not what it left the factory with

If you over pull all you need is a Oxyacetylene with a small tip and heat the hole and tap it down with a chisel head body hammer. Quickly cool the area with a wet rag your doing two things relieving the stress and shrinking the metal .
