Dash switches

My truck will be very simple inside. I will weld up the ash tray rectangle and the other rectangle on the right

What switches can be used for all these hole. And who make good ones ?
My thinking
left side, head lights and windshield wipers.

1st hole right side of steering wheel, Ignition.
Radio in the 2 holes and long slot.

Can Vintage air knobs be used on the top 3 holes?
Who makes the best parts/switches for all this stuff???

What is a good radio for it ? not the most expensive or the cheapest, something in the middle.

Thanks

Re: Dash switches

The 'vintage radios' that fit the stock dash holes can be a bit pricey compared to the DIN $100 for something very good. I paid something like $400 for my AD original looking stock style over a year ago.....and it took almost a year to get. They are over $550+ now, but it has AM/FM, 45 watts x 4 with low impedance external amp outs and bluetooth and hands free cell. It is very shallow so electric wipers can be easily added. (I still miss cd's, cassettes and even 8 tracks)
It all depends what you are looking for and how poor you want to be.

Re: Dash switches

I would pay the 550.00 for it because I don't want to modify that area

classis parts, classic industries, and LMC all have the same radio?? or where to get it, I need it by spring

Re: Dash switches

Retro Sound has a vintage radio that is an exact fit. They are around $250 and can be purchased through Summit, Amazon, or directly. Jim

Re: Dash switches

Probably ordered now could maybe get by spring being 'covid' is kinda done.....maybe. The AD trucks have that curved dash that makes alot of aftermarket radios look really cheesy and cheap. Haven't done research on your truck, but have looked at 58 Impala radios for my dads cruiser. I want to be as close to original so to not look super cheap, but a bit of new technology in it.

Pre owned Custom autosound am-fm https://www.ebay.com/itm/15506641499...Bk9SR9bUqvL5YA

This one from Tuckers has a lot of bells and whistles but looks stock to the casual observer. https://www.ebay.com/itm/13411395548...3ABFBM1tSq8vlg

This is the Ebay search for TF truck radios. There is about any level of bells and whistles that you might want or not want. It's not a bad idea if you find one you like that has the brand and model number to search that unit on the web to see what price you can find and who is selling it. It's always best do the search to make sure you get the best overall deal on item and shipping plus often you can find a seller like Summit that you know and feel you can trust a bit more if you don't recognize the seller.

Re: Dash switches

Far Left Use it for headlights stock location.
Left next to gauges I made it my additional fog bar light in my grill switch.

Three above radio.
1st hole make it your wiper switch. its the stock location.
The next two you could use for ac on/off fan speed and heat, cool tempature. Or like we did made the last hold bigger and put in a 12v power plug / old cigarette lighter style for phone power. Or you can put in a two usb socket there. (we put ours in the heater cover) We used the middle hole as a fuel pump power switch as a secondary cuttoff for electric pump.

Radio leave as is and get one of the retro sound radios that fit there.

As for your ash tray and heater control hole covers. We left them so they could come in and out. Also vintage air makes controls to fit that hole like stock but has the extra controls for AC as well as heat.

We made a nice phone holder that goes in the ash tray. when not there we close the tray.

Thanks for the Info.
yeah I saw a picture of the charging ports and I like that for the top 3 holes, maybe the middle hole of the 3 could be for EJECT,--double 0 7
