01 check engine light...Need help with code P0171/P0174
I have a 01 Chevy step side with the small V8 engine that is displaying the code P0171/P0174 which designates a lean running condition. Under remedies they list about 6 causes that causes this code. I have had a mechanic replace the fuel pump. One replaced the MAF sensor. It can get expensive going down the list replacing parts hoping that this replacement part will fix the problem.
Anyone have this same problem? Would like to hear what it was that you did that eliminated it running lean and kept the check engine light off! Thanks in advance. |

Re: 01 check engine light...Need help with code P0171/P0174
P0171 is Bank1 lean
P0174 is Bank2 lean You're going to spend a ton of unnecessary cash loading the parts cannon and blasting parts at it. Since it's both banks I'd start by checking your fuel pressure at the test port on the engine. It could be O2 sensors but both banks failing at the same time is not a normal failure mode.
