Cam for 6.0 LS ?
I'm looking for help picking the right cam for my LQ4 LS build..... Mostly stock but want a mild cam to liven it up a bit BUT i don't want it any bigger that it would affect the drivability or reliability of the build....looking at Comp or any reputable cam companies...... Any help would be appreciated.... thanks in advance,
RIZ

Re: Cam for 6.0 LS ?
I went with btr stage 1 truck cam.. if you get on youtube, theres several videos of how the different cams sound..
I told them I was keeping engine stock except for cam and headers. They recommended stage 1 or 2.. When I got it it said btr and comp cams on the box, it also came with new springs

So you got a Comp cam? Do you have a part number? Are you happy with it ?

Re: Cam for 6.0 LS ?
For a 6.0 mild build I would go with something around 215I/220E .550-.600 lift and 114 lobe separation. Many cams in this range.
As said above new springs. I would add new push rods. Most cam kits will come with new valve seals, retainers and locks. If your 6.0 has a jillion miles on it maybe new LS7 lifters? I've used Comp Cams and Texas Speed cams with good results. The other thing to consider if you are running a auto is a good stall converter. Maybe around 2800 stall? Rear end gears? Also a good chassis tune makes huge difference on the overall performance. Man I like spending other peoples money! LOL. Good luck with your project. Re: Cam for 6.0 LS ?
If you're going mild you shouldn't need new springs. I guess it depends on your definition of mild. BTR just came out with a no springs required (NSR) version of the Truck Norris cam.

Re: Cam for 6.0 LS ?
If you keep the valve lift to .525" or less you can use the stock springs - anymore and you will need to upgrade springs.

Cam for 6.0 LS ?
I've been reading that the BTR stage 2 cam is a bit too mellow at the low end?? I will be using the stock 317 heads with my stock LQ4 6.0....... I just want to use regular pump gas ands not have a cam that's too big to affect reliability.... Is the stage 2 too mild? Would the stage 3 be better? Would the stage 3 need head milling or a NON stock convertor in my L480 trans? I just want to order the right one for what I'm looking for.

Re: Cam for 6.0 LS ?
I have a 6.0 and a 4L80 in mine. Texas speed recommended their 224r on a 114 LSA. It has a mild lope and it doesn't push through the factory torq converter at all. It actually idles pretty well with the stock converter since 4L80 has a little more stall than the 4L60. The 114 LSA gives up a little low end with my 3.40 gear and a 30 inch rear tire. It gets wound up and pulls pretty hard after about 3000 rpm though. I think I will switch to 4.10 rear gear soon because id like more low end. Once I do that I may swap to a more aggressive cam with a split duration and lower LSA just for the sound and to bring the torque in sooner.

I just put in a Sloppy Stage 2 as a bunch of guys are running them and love them.Check out holdners video below where he compares it to the Truck Norris cam.
