New truck with questions

I won the bid on this 1938 chevy truck from the Auction a few days ago.
I think I'm going to go with NO bed and the biggest tires I can get for the rear and over 500 horse power.
Kind of a Rat rod, no painting of the cab, 9" rear end and suspension and some kind of front suspension.
Any ideas on front suspension??

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Is there a a delete crank out windshield rubber gasket, no crank out just normal windshield set in place.??
Well it looks like I have the frame for the windshield.
This truck will be shipped to me in November

Truck master or Truck ?---------- Bear with me guy's until I get familiar wit this truck

Re: New truck

I'd just do a Mustang II style. Easy and readily available, as are the parts.

Re: New truck

That's a neat little truck. Lots of potential there.

Re: New truck

Who makes a good Mustang 2 front end for a reasonable price?

Re: New truck

I've never done a mustang 2 yet but I have a project that is needing one. From what I've seen and read for the price is a Speedway motors. I would never use a helix product or any other off brand china junk. I'm sure some of the parts with the speedway frontend is Chinese but the cross member is made in America I believe. We have a 56 ford truck with a mustang 2 frontend that's been good after the bushings got replaced. They dry rotted out within 2 years. I'll probably get the cross member from speedway and piece together the rest, I already have a few parts.

Re: New truck

I've never really looked into those, I was just talking about the regular weld in mustang 2 cross members. I think they are around $400

Re: New truck

A straight axle gasser look would be cool on that truck as well

Re: New truck

Yeah, there are lots of choices for MII front ends, from inexpensive to sky's the limit. You'd have to search to find what you would be happy with. I can you, having had them on 2 different vehicles, I much prefer the coilover shocks compared to the coil spring and separate shock option.

Re: New truck

Idea on what it may look like, 24" stretch on the frame
Biggest back tires I can find.

Re: New truck

My truck was delivered this morning from Nebraska to Mississippi.

I took the seat out (frame and springs) and cleaned out weeds, dirt and what was left of the seat upholstery and found a few parts and flushed it out with a water hose.

2 hubcaps, 2 wire things for the seat springs, a cap to some Fluid reservoir, 3 buttons, not sure what the panels are, a spring I broke. Any body know what some of this is??

I need to get the Gas tank out to flush out the rest of the dirt and find a million dollar quarter or half dollar

I ran a large magnet over everything that came out and sifted threw it also.

The motor and trans. look complete.

What holds the hood open???
