dash pad Question

Somewhere i believe i read a post, and im not even sure if it was in this web site but there was some post about guys who had cracks in their dash pads and theres a way to repair them you cut the raised edges of the split then you fill the split with some kind of filler, and its not that vynal stuff that they advertise on television. apparently after it sets up you file it smooth and dye the pad over. anyone got any idea what this is?

When I had the interior of my 77 redone, the guy only charged $100 more t odo it in matching metrial. Looks sweet, just as good as new. I thought about going your route, but this was way better, as well as time wise.

I have an old 77 GMC with the dash completly trashed and I found a replacement at GMC Pauls. It was the entire dash pad, not a cover and available in several colors including red. About 220.00 but well worth the investment if you are going to keep the truck a while.

One of the guys here (I think...) used expanding foam to fill in the cracks. I think he used bondo after that, and then textured it with something and painted it to match. I think it was one of the 4wd guys, but I don't remember who.

I've used "Marine Tex" a two part epoxy. Works great a little paint and its good to go.

I believe pads are being reproduced in all colors now.
