Leaf Spring Question

Good afternoon everyone!

I am to the point where I need to start working on the leaf springs in my '67 K20. I want to replace the rubber bushings, bolts, and teflon pads that sit in between the leaves. My springs are weird though. They are about 3.25" on each end and taper to 2.5" or so in the middle (I haven't measured them yet, but that is what I think they are). Are these rubber bushings even available? I was looking at LMCTruck and they list spring bushings that are for 67-72 but mine seem to be different. Can anyone verify/confirm this? If they are different, where can I get new ones?

I would try a visit to a local shop that builds/rebuilds/fixes spring packs who would or should know all about the bushings and pads, or even do it for you.

Not sure of the exact measurements, but the original front springs on my '72 K20 were wider at the bushings and narrower in the center at the spring pads. I scrapped them years ago, bushings & all, when I installed 2.5" Softride springs. Those came with new urethane bushings. Good luck in your search, I'm sure new bushings exist. Just gotta find 'em. Roger's idea sounds like a good place to start.

Thanks for all the information everyone. I just dropped them off at the local spring shop (Dunbar Springs) in Phoenix. They have been in business since 1919. I called them and the guy knew exactly what I was talking about. $85 per spring and they all get cleaned, painted, rebuilt, rearched back to spec, new center pins, new bushings, new clamp bolts for the end of the leaves, and new teflon spacers between the individual leaves. Money well spent!

That's a pretty good price. I think similar around here is a little over 100 each from the spring shop we've been dealing with for 40+ years.

In my rear i just plopped down $200 a side and did brand new dormans and intend to do the same up front in the spring. Springs are 50+ years old but theres always the debate if springs age or not.

I live close to SD truck spring and they do great work and they are a huge online spring distributor but I believe they stopped rebuilding springs for light trucks so I just paid for all new ones.
