New Blazer build (sort of)

Just started 3D printing a 1/8 scale 1970 Blazer. End goal is to have it look like my real Blazer. It's about 22" long and will be radio controlled. This is not a kit, but I was able to find some files on the net, and will take many hours to complete. Should look good when done.

That's the plan, but by the time I get to that point I'll have to see if I'm fed up of working on it.

I'm using this chassis; https://3dsets.com/product/model-5-landy-4x4-wagon/

It's also 3D printed, and the detail is absolutely amazing. I bought the files for just for the chassis, but I think when the Blazer is done I will print the complete Landy.

Thankfully the Landy is a hair smaller, so I was able to adapt the chassis perfectly under the Blazer Body with not too many issues.
I also drew the roll bar and brush bumper in CAD and 3D printed those as well.

Finding the scale GM truck rally rims and Goodyear Duratrac tires ( which I now have on my real truck)were a bonus, as well as the ww2 fuel can.

As I mention in my original post, the goal is to have it look as close to my Blazer as possible. It will be RC, but I will have so much time in it I wont be bouncing it off of rocks. I'll build the Landy for that.

That's interesting. I play around with axial rc trucks. Do you watch the Scale Builders Guild on YouTube? He's Canadian as well and does stuff like that.

I will check it out tonight. I used to be into RC stuff (40 years ago) and only recently started messing with it again. It's expensive for what it is, but it's a good way to make it through these cold Canadian winters. I just need Grandkids now.

Fellow RC lover/user here, great job on this! I understand the time and work that goes into it and also not wanting to "thrash" it out on the trail because of that.

Not the only person to ever do this but he sure built some amazing RC vehicles doing the same thing you did but built the bodies from wood which he then thrashed out on the trail. For your viewing pleasure:

Been following your thread, my son races offoad 1\8 scale RC nitro and electric, the track is north of Oshawa, On.
He has a 3d printer and printed the 72 grille. Really like how yours turned out, and your 1:1 ride looks very nice.

There are lots of RC "non race" options for the Blazer now.

I've been working on my 72 K5 more recently, and Bill has been great.

I know Bill very well, and only live 10 minutes away. He's the reason that made it so easy to restore my Blazer. Most of my parts were purchased from him.
I had no idea they had a track in Oshawa. Will check it out. Thanks.

Awesome, I live about 15mins away in North Oshawa. lol
We had a track by the old 5th Wheel Truck Stop (next to storage units) for over 10yrs, but the owner sold the land and we moved to Crestwood Golf Course north of Post Perry. https://crestwoodrc.ca/

Yes, I remember that track, a friend of mine used to race there ( Tim Robinson). Nice to hear you have another place to go.
Seems like everything is closing up around here including off-road trails. I used to run a couple home-made buggys at the Ganaraska forest, and that's now closed too with no place to go.
I will definitely make a trip up to your new track this spring when the Blazer comes out.

Tim and his family are good peeps,(Kyle and Tim are fast racers) I know him well from racing.(small world!)
We use to go to the pit or Baldy (Raglan) back in the day, they have always tried to keep offroad vehicles out of there, but offroaders always find a way.
