I'm looking for a few nice 5/16"-18 x 3/4" screws. These screws have a Phillips truss head with a flat spot on the top. They were used to secure the tailgate handle and the jack handle bag hold-down spring. I realize new 5/16"-18 x 3/4" screws are easy to find but I'm looking for ones with the flat tops. Here are a couple examples of what I'm looking for.

The next image shows the type of head the correct screws will have.

Went on the same journey. In the end, not too hard to put the flat spot on there yourself. That's what I ended up doing. Good luck with the hunt.

Hey Brad, those look nice. I thought about doing that. Didn’t know how well it would work. Found some screws online at Grainger that looked like good candidates. How did you go about flattening the tops so nicely? Thanks.

They were stainless screws and I used a bench grinder. Nothing fancy.

I have three here. 2 came out of a tailgate handle and one is from the jack stowage spring. The head taper and thickness look a little different to me, but could just be illusion created by surface rust on them. I would need $15 shipped for them if you want them. I would personally go with Iron Canine's idea and use the stainless but they are here if you want them.

Interesting, the factory had variances. The same parts were installed with the same bolts, variance being the heads aren't flat. 'E" bolts in other terms. I wonder of the flat ones are stamped "E" as well.

The flat ones appear recessed to me. From this angle anyway, "damn my eyes"

Those are the ones I found on ebay. They have the heads I'm looking for but are a 1/4" shorter. They may still work for what I want them for, the top two screws for an in-bed spare tire bracket, I'll have to measure the thickness of the parts. I reached out to the seller on ebay quite a while back to see if they had them in 3/4" long, they don't.

Are you saying that the flat portion of the screw head looks recessed/concaved? The ones on my tailgate just have the flat spot but it isn't recessed or concaved.

Yeah, but it could just be my eyes. Seems of seen concaved ones, but won't swear to it.
