Re: Sm 465 shifter help
I used to weld that into the shift lever. It gave a good tight shift feel.

Re: Sm 465 shifter help
From my reccoletion - SM465 / two issues and fixes.
1. sloppy shifting after a period time, weld it at base. Can someone post any pictures of the weld spot? 2. 3rd gear enclave is goes out. Need to upgrade the enclave or mod the existing enclave. Search online / it's all there. I run SM 465's in two trucks I own, I've had to perform the above mods, years ago. Hope this helps.

Re: Sm 465 shifter help
I have had the same issue. Can't find them anywhere. Mine disintegrated when I pulled it apart to replace the roll pin. Ended up just switching the whole shifter out with an extra while I hope to find replacement plastic washers/spacers.
I have heard the welding tip in the past but I am suspect since they must have placed the washers/spacers in there for a reason which I can only guess helps with some give in the shift pattern??. Good luck and keep us posted if you find some |

Re: Sm 465 shifter help
[I apologize in advance. My first ever post so I'm trying to figure out how to add photos.]
Same issue here. Does anyone actually know what the rings look like? I pictured o-rings and bought a bag. If they are harder, they'd have to be split rings. Here are my parts. I'm going to make a new bushing (the part in the upper-right) and then assemble. |

Re: Sm 465 shifter help
Great first and second posts. And congrats on your successful picture posting . Let us know how that works out. I was searching for a special o-ring not long ago and landed on www.theoringstore.com . They might be a good place to look

And a place for it to wear out. I used to weld them up when I was in vehicle development, to provide a benchmark for shifter feel. It just creates a pretty significant buzz when you pass through a certain rpm. If you can live with that - then have at it. K
