New Schott wheels...gonna narrow the rear!

Got my new wheels picked up.
Took some measurements today with just the new rims, compared to the old wheels.
Until I get the tires mounted on the rims, I think the rear will have to be narrowed at least 2, or 2 1/2" off each side.
Don't want the tires sticking out past the fenders.
Lots of room inside with the wider fenderwells, and leaf/Cal Trac suspension.

Those wheels are amazing. I couldn't bring myself to spend that much money.

Instead of narrowing the 12bolt you might consider the switch to ford 9 inch.

Another place I would check for a custom 9" is Quick Performance. They are in Iowa.

If you don't mind switching rear ends, look at an 8.8" from a Ford Explorer. It is 59.5" wms to wms. If that is still too wide, then you can narrow just the one side and make both sides the same length which gives you 56.5". They are all posi with either 3.08 or 3.73 ratio and all are disk brake except some earlier models. They also have a 3.25" axle housing diameter, so it is easy to weld on mounts.

At this point, the price was pretty heavy, especially after having to drop an new transmission into my Ford, and deal with an insane price for having the wider fender wells, and tailgate painted in January.

I have considered the c-clip eliminators, and also just having the Ford end caps welded on...but I’m not done with the rear end yet, and want to go with big brakes as well.....just can’t do it all right now.

Same thing applies to the wheels. I did the 3” dropped tubular A-arms, lowered the rear, disc brake/5 bolt conversion, Moser axles, Cal-Tracs, Tru-Trac, and gear set, a couple years ago, but no way could I afford the big disc brakes, or wheels, all at once.
I went for what I thought was the nicest 5 bolt aluminum wheels, that would get the truck on the road again, as cheap as possible. (Without just sticking used stuff on)

I have used Jason before...he is who I finally got my one piece window kit from, as Brothers was going on a year, come April for being backordered.
I tried to use Jason for the wheels initially, but the communication wasn’t exactly clear, and I didn’t want to spend all that money, just to open the boxes and say, “That’s not what I ordered”.
I dealt with Schott direct.
Clear, precise instructions, and answers, as well as some good advice. (Go with the 12” wide, instead of the 14”, even though I am narrowing the rear end.)

I don't get it, why not simply order a deeper backspacing? I just ordered a set of Weld Draglite's with 7-1/2" backspacing to keep the 16" meats flush...?

Having a larger exposed lip in the front of wheel is a preference for some. Maybe that style wheel are not available in custom offsets? Everybody has a "look" that they prefer.

They are excellent customer service top notch and the rear is also. I had mine shortened 3/4 of an inch each tube to fit wider tires in my Chevelle . Was an easy swap

Again maybe not for you but I've been running a 1996? Explorer 8.8 in my 98 Wrangler with a LS6/4L60E swap for over 14 years and zero problems. The 8.8 has 31 spline axles, Ford posi and 12" disc brakes with the e-brake built into the caliper.
I haven't had an issue but the pinion is offset not centered.
