New with a newish to me 68
Hey, thanks for letting me join the forum! I've been lurking since last fall when I bought a 1968 C30 flat bed dually 157" wheelbase.
This forum and its members have already helped me hugely when I was researching exactly what I had when I first got the truck, I knew I had a 68 C30 but I never knew about the 5/10 lug axle and hub options before I got mine. Id like to start a build thread for it this spring(still under 4' of snow here). It doesn't seem to need a whole lot to get it back on the road(I do have it running now). It was last registered for the road in 1998 but I think it has been used on a ranch or ranches more recently, and was most likely sitting for 5 or more years when I got it, I'm basing that on the amount of rodent waste and mud daubers that I cleaned out of it. I'll tell the full story of how I got it and what I've done to it once I start a build thread. |

Welcome to the forum. I like it Flip for ya. The picture was taller than it was wide. I will be looking for your build thread.

I’m posting the SPID because I think they are really cool and I know other people like seeing them too.

Re: New with a newish to me 68
Notice the wheelbase says 133 but it’s actually a 157. I believe this was a misprint, I can’t find any evidence of a cab swap and I don’t think the glovebox door was swapped because all the other options are correct.

I just found the numbers on the frame confirming the frame and cab are original.

Re: New with a newish to me 68
The spark plug wires are dated 1982 and are still soft and pliable. Paperwork in the glove box shows that this truck has only driven about 9k miles since 1993.

I love the 327, low miles, and perfect patina. That black hood primer showing through is just right. The grille looks super clean. And best of all you plan to keep it original. Does it have 18” wheels? The spare 18” on the SPID is not familiar to me. EDIT: Really hoping you can post some more pics and progress on here as you go.

I couldn't agree more, I love the patina on this truck. The grill is just as clean as it looks It has 18" on the front with tubes and lock rings, I think they must be original. The rears are two piece tubeless 19.5" |
