Door Adjustment
Guys,
So glad I can finally post here. Signed up a few years ago but due to technical issues have just been able to chime in. I’m in the final stages of a major resto-mod on a gmc k2500. I’m looking for someone in SoCal that is good with the doors on this generation truck. I tried myself and was not real successful in getting body lines straight and things looking right. I’m in Santa Ana, but would take it where the knowledge and skill are. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Door Adjustment
Not sure which era truck you have, but I suggest using the search feature of this forum for some step by step instructions. If that doesn’t work, maybe a local body shop?

Re: Door Adjustment
First off Just 2 Suggestions,
If you have Aftermarket hinges? That could be part of the issue. Also, if you have replaced the rocker panels? The rocker panels need to be fit to the doors. Not the doors fit to the rocker panels. Here is a place in Santa Ana. This came up in a Quick search. California Classics Paint & Body 1650 E Edinger Ave, Santa Ana, CA 92705 And here are a few threads that discuss this. In case you decide to give it another try. These may help you see an issue that was overlooked. Hope this helps Link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...door+alignment Link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...door+alignment Link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...door+alignment Link: http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...door+alignment

Re: Door Adjustment
Thanks for the tips and links. I got my c/10 you tube certification and tried the procedure, but was only able to get back where I started. I don’t have any helping hands which I think is key.
Funny thing rockers were replaced. That very well may need to be addressed. As for the body shop I think I’ve spoken to them, but I’ll have to go back through my list. You guys are a great resource. I’ll keep you posted. |

Re: Door Adjustment
Your Welcome.
If you don't have available helping hands. Maybe you could fabricate something like this out of wood, metal, or an old engine stand? Link: https://www.amazon.com/Dragway-Tools.../dp/B004UC6NJ6

Re: Door Adjustment
I used a floor jack adapter when I replaced my door hinge pins..
Maybe if you post some pictures of where your at and tell us where you want to be we can make more informed suggestions.

Re: Door Adjustment
What are you not good with? Myself, I would move bottom hinge in a bit. If gaps are to wide for you, fender and door need to be moved back. If adjustment is not there to satisfaction it should have been addressed before paint. No idea of rear of door as no pics. These trucks were not show pieces from the factory. Perfect gaps require a lot of work not intended at the assembly.
