Shaker Hood/Hood Scoop
Starting the bodywork phase on my 72 Cheyenne. I sure like the looks of the shaker hoods but the $400+ is out of reach at this time. I know that there are kits available for scoops and I was wondering if any of you had done this and had suggestions. Any help appreciated.
Thanks, Larry |

Rat,
Thanks for the post. That is an option I am going to take a hard look at. Did you cut the hole in the hood yourself? Has it caused any extra vibration in the hood? Larry |

i got a harwood 2 and3/4 inch 69 z-28 scoop $118.00 from sumitt it looks good but i have alot of hours in putting it on i rivitted it on and then fiber glassed it and then body filler if i paid my self to put it on it would better to buy a steel cowl hood i think it would be a much easier way to go thanks bill

mine just bolts on....you fit it to the hood (scribe)...paint...
install rubber....bolt on..... yes i cut the hole with a die grinder...... duct taped the area...marked the hole.....cut her out.... did it right on the truck.... placed a blanket over the engine....closed down the hood... covered the windshield...let it rip..... no vibs....even at 120MPH.... Bill,
Thanks. That would be great. I have my eye on the 4" cowl hood from Harwood. The detail that looks a bit tricky is the front edge where it sits on top of the hood rib. It looks to me like I will need to notch the scoop and then blend it in with glass/bondo. Any advice on that or any other tip you picked up on yours? Larry |

I think it would be pretty easy to find a shaker hood setup from a T/A, that would be cool too
