Electric fuel pump for cab tank?

Is it possible to add a fuel pump for the existing behind the seat original fuel tank? I purchased a 383 but I am not looking forward to redoing the whole fuel system over by adding an under the bed tank. Let me know if any of you have done this or is it just not possible. Thanks

There is someone on here that installed a mazda in tank. You can also do an inline (noisier), but the inline pumps have come a long way.

This is what I did for the inline pump that came with the Holley Sniper kit. Its a bit noisy at idle, but who really spends a lot of time at idle.

I'm wondering if an in-tank pump would be any noisier than an in-line pump mounted on the frame rail with rubber mounts. Being right behind you a pump in the tank might be pretty noisy.

I have a Holley pump tank module in my Camaro and I can hear it.

In-line (external) pumps are a lot quieter nowadays. I've got one under the cab inside the frame rail.

I have an external fuel pump on my 68 c10. It’s a little noisy when first starting but my exhaust drowns out the noise.

I bought my '71 in December of 2017.. A previous owner had removed the stock fuel pump and installed an electric fuel pump on the frame rail right under the passenger side seat. He removed all the steel fuel lines and fed fuel through a braided hose..

After about a year of listening to the WHINE of that pump, I removed the pump and all associated parts.. Took me a bit of time, but I fabricated new lines, including the return line, and installed a "3 line" fuel pump.. Best thing I've done for that truck..

If you like listening to an incessant screaming noise, get ready 'cause it's coming with an electric fuel pump...

How did you route the wires out of the tank?

I just drilled a hole in the top of the sender and ran them through there. I sealed the hole up with gas tank patching epoxy.

I have been driving the truck for over a year, with no problems so far.

I can't really hear it except when I first turn the key on because my hearing is so bad. My wife can hear it but she says it doesn't bother her.

I guess it would depend on how much errant noises bother you. Some people it doesn't bother and some people it drives them nuts.....

I did something similar with a Carter P4070. I think it's quieter than the Holley Red pump. I barely hear it. I wired it to an oil pressure switch. I like an electric pump for Holley carburetor adjustments. I just remove the fuse, idle the fuel dry in the bowl, and remove it with hardly any fuel spilt.

An electric pump, inside the tank, inside the cab???

If I get in a crash, I have to hope that the engine stalls for the oil pressure switch to turn off the fuel pump. Otherwise, I have fire danger with fuel being pumped outside my truck. What's to keep the fuel from a fuel pump inside the cab from spilling into the cab?

Had a outside rail fuel pump on initial EFI install , to much noise for me , so I cut a in tank fuel pump I had laying around from a Dodge in to the stock 72 fuel sending unit a couple of clamps a few inches of hose . then for the return I put a 3/8 bulk head fitting a few inches away from the sending unit ,keeping the return close to the sending unit hole is key so no metal shavings when drilling hole and also to tighten the bulk head fitting to the tank . overall worked very well , cut the noise down a ton , the only issue was slosh below a 1/4 tank on sharp turns , ran that for about a year before getting around to a rear frame tank install .
